In particular, it analyses container size, graphics and the presence of tags such as "Sponsored".

Perceptual Ad Blocker is available as an extension for Chrome. The system does not remove adverts, but only marks them as "This is an ad".

Existing solutions on the blocker market analyse the source code of a page. However, websites struggling with adblockers have no trouble disguising advertising elements. The new tool ignores hidden HTML markup (or tags) and instead analyses the actual content - words and images on the page.

The developers tested 50 well-known sites that struggle with ad blockers, including Facebook. Perceptual Ad Blocker was able to identify ad content on all of them without being detected.

According to the developers, several thousand people are currently using the new solution. They did not specify the exact figure.

Source: www.rup.com.ua
