Since 10 August, the Krasnoyilsk-Vikova de Sus border crossing point has been operating smoothly for passenger cars and empty trucks. Vehicles with goods will be allowed in as soon as the road on the Rumanian side of the cordon is cleared.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Schmigal and Rumanian Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke opened the Krasnoyilsk-Vikou de Sus border crossing point. This is the first border crossing point built from scratch in the last quarter of a century and the second in the entire period of independence, reported  Mustafa-Masi Nayyem, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

Until today, there was only one checkpoint for vans at the Ukrainian-Romanian border - Porubne-Siret. At the moment, this BCP has been re-vantaged. It is already allowing twice as much traffic as planned. Regardless of this, the queue of vans is tens of kilometres long.

According to the project, Krasnoyelsk was designed only for passenger vehicles and only for daytime operation. Taking into account the critical situation at the Romanian border, it was reoriented to a full-fledged vantage point, which operates on a daily basis.
